COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Washington State junior Logan Johnstone has been named the Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week, while UNLV sophomore Carson Lane has been selected the MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week and teammate Cooper Sheff collected the MW Baseball Freshman of the Week honor.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LOGAN JOHNSTONE, WASHINGTON STATE
Junior, Outfielder, Los Gatos, California/Gonzaga
- Led Washington State to a 3-0 series sweep over San Diego State.
- Batted .667 in three starts with six hits, including three home runs, six RBIs and eight runs scored.
- Posted a .786 on-base percentage and a 1.889 slugging percentage.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
CARSON LANE, UNLV
Sophomore, Huntington Beach, California/Huntington Beach HS
- Made one start on the mound last week, earning a 1-0 record.
- Pitched eight scoreless innings and combined for the first UNLV no-hitter since 2003.
- Struck out nine batters and allowed three walks.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
COOPER SHEFF, UNLV
Infielder, Las Vegas, Nevada/Oregon
- Helped UNLV to a 2-1 series victory over Fresno State and started in the midweek game against Cal State Fullerton.
- Batted .467 in four starts with seven hits, including three doubles, six runs scored and one RBI.
- Posted an on-base percentage of .526 and a slugging percentage of .667.
