COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced its regular-season individual awards for the 2025 gymnastics season on Friday, with Specialists, Co-Freshmen, Coach and Gymnast of the Year honorees being recognized for their achievements during the season. Specialists of the Year were determined by the gymnasts with the highest National Qualifying Score (NQS) going into the 2025 Credit Union 1 MW Gymnastics Championship.
The other three awards were determined by votes by the four head coaches in the league.
2025 Mountain West Vault Specialist of the Year
Alyssa Vulaj, Boise State
- Led the Mountain West with an NQS of 9.850.
- Three-time MW Vault Specialist of the Week.
2025 Mountain West Bars Specialist of the Year
Emily Lopez, Boise State
- Led the Mountain West with an NQS of 9.910 to rank among the top 20 in the nation.
- Five-time MW Bars Specialist of the Week.
2025 Mountain West Beam Specialist of the Year
Brianna Brooks, Utah State
- Led the Mountain West with an NQS of 9.880.
- Three-time MW Beam Specialist of the Week.
2025 Mountain West Floor Specialist of the Year
Maggie Slife, Air Force
- Led the Mountain West with an NQS of 9.880.
- Three-time MW Floor Specialist of the Week.
2025 Mountain West Co-Freshmen of the Year
Alyssa Bigler, Air Force
- Highest ranked freshman in the MW in the all-around.
- Earned first-team All-MW honors on all-around.
- Two-time MW Vault Specialist of the Week, recording the highest mark in the conference all year (9.925).
- Two-time MW Freshman of the Week.
Kristina Shchennikova, Boise State
- Led the MW with five MW Freshman of the Week honors.
- Earned second-team All-MW honors on bars.
- Three-time MW Beam Specialist of the Week.
- Scored a 9.900 in her freshman debut of beam, the highest mark by a Boise State freshman in her debut since 1987.
2025 Mountain West Coach of the Year
Tina Bird, Boise State
- Led Boise State to the 2025 Mountain West gymnastics regular-season title with a 5-1 record in league competition.
- The Broncos recorded season highs of 196.775 overall, 49.200 on vault, 49.375 on bars, 49.175 on beam and 49.400 on floor, all best in the MW.
- Led BSU to a perfect record at home, marking the only team with an unblemished record at home in the MW this season.
2025 Mountain West Gymnast of the Year
Maggie Slife, Air Force
- Earned first-team All-MW honors on all-around, vault and floor.
- Earned second-team All-MW honors on bars.
- Led the MW with 15 weekly accolades this season.
- Ranks first in the all-around in the MW with an NQS of 39.325.
- Scored a 9.900 or better four times during the season, including a 9.925 on floor, matching the highest mark on that event in the MW this season.
The 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Gymnastics Championship is set for Saturday, March 22, at the Provident Credit Union Event Center in San Jose, California. Competition is set to begin at 2 p.m. PT, with San José State on vault, Air Force on bars, Boise State on beam and Utah State on floor for the first rotation.
