DAYTON, Ohio — San Diego State’s season came to an end with a 95-68 loss to North Carolina in the NCAA First Four Tuesday night in Dayton, Ohio. The Aztecs finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 21-10 record.

The Tar Heels (23-13) came out firing, shooting 60.9 percent from the field in the first half to open up a 47-23 lead. UNC finished the game shooting 52.6 percent from the floor, scoring the most points (95) against SDSU in a regulation game since Brigham Young scored 100 in a 100-90 win over San Diego State on Feb. 22, 2006.

RJ led North Carolina with 26 points, making 8 of 12 from the floor, including all six 3-point attempts.

The Tar Heels advance to the NCAA First Round to face sixth-seeded Ole Miss in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Nick Boyd and Dwayne McKinney III each had 12 points apiece for the Aztecs, who were playing in their fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament.

SDSU dropped to 5-7 against teams that made the NCAA Tournament this season.
