COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Teams turned in their final performances of the season going into the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Gymnastics Championship as student-athletes from across all four schools in the league were recognized with weekly gymnastics honors for Week 10 of the 2025 season.
ALL-AROUNDER & CO-BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
MAGGIE SLIFE, AIR FORCE
So., Oconomowoc, Wisconsin / Arrowhead HS
- Scored a conference-best 39.300 in the all-around at Oregon State.
- Scored a 9.875 on beam to share MW Beam Specialist of the Week with Boise State’s Kristina Shchennikova and Utah State’s Brianna Brooks.
- Recorded a 9.800 on vault, 9.750 on bars and 9.875 on floor en route to her all-around total against the Beavers.
- Slife has won a league-best 15 weekly awards, including All-Arounder of the Week in all but one week this season.
CO-VAULT & BARS SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
EMILY LOPEZ, BOISE STATE
Sr., Mission Viejo, California / Trabuco Hills HS
- Scored a 9.825 on vault against Southern Utah to share MW Vault Specialist of the Week with San José State’s Madison Kirsch and Utah State’s Kaylie Medrano.
- Scored a conference-best 9.925 on bars to capture the event title against the Thunderbirds.
- Also competed on beam against SUU, scoring a 9.850.
- The awards are Lopez’s eighth and ninth of the season.
CO-VAULT SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
MADISON KIRSCH, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Gr., Scottsdale, Arizona / Chapparral HS
- Scored a 9.825 on vault at the Haas Quad Meet #2 alongside California, Stanford and Arizona State to share MW Vault Specialist of the Week with Boise State’s Emily Lopez and Utah State’s Kaylie Medrano.
- Also competed on beam, scoring a 9.850.
- The award is Kirsch’s first honor this season.
CO-VAULT SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
KAYLIE MEDRANO, UTAH STATE
Fr., Buckeye, Arizona / Verrado HS
- Scored a 9.825 on vault at Arizona to capture the individual title on the event and share MW Vault Specialist of the Week with Boise State’s Emily Lopez and San Jose State’s Madison Kirsch.
- Also competed on beam and floor at the meet, scoring a 9.850 on each event.
- The award is Medrano’s first honor this season.
CO-BEAM SPECIALIST & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
KRISTINA SHCHENNIKOVA, BOISE STATE
Fr., Morrison, Colorado / Lakewood HS
- Scored a 9.875 on beam against Southern Utah to capture the individual title and share MW Beam Specialist of the Week with Air Force’s Maggie Slife and Utah State’s Brianna Brooks.
- The 9.875 on beam was also the highest mark on any event by a Mountain West freshman this week.
- Also competed on bars during the meet, scoring a 9.850.
- Shchennikova has earned three weekly honors on beam and a league-best five freshman accolades this season.
CO-BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
BRIANNA BROOKS, UTAH STATE
Gr., Las Vegas, Nevada / West Career & Technical Academy
- Scored a 9.875 on beam at Arizona to capture the individual title and share MW Beam Specialist of the Week with Air Force’s Maggie Slife and Boise State’s Kristina Shchennikova.
- Also competed on vault and bars during the meet, scoring a 9.625 and 9.850, respectively, en route to capturing the individual title on bars.
- The award is Brooks’ third beam recognition and fifth weekly accolade this season.
FLOOR SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
JULIA MELCHERT, BOISE STATE
Sr., Puyallup, Washington / Rogers HS
- Scored a league-best 9.925 on floor in the final routine against Southern Utah on Senior Night to capture the individual title on the event.
- Made her season debut in the meet against the Thunderbirds.
- The award is Melchert’s first of the season.
Mountain West teams will compete for the championship trophy this weekend at the Credit Union 1 MW Gymnastics Championship, hosted by San José State on Saturday, March 22. Tickets for the championship are available at this link or through the SJSU ticket office.
