COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Six Mountain West student-athletes earned First Team All-America honors, while eight picked up Second Team All-America status at last week’s 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia.
Leading the way for the conference was Wyoming’s Daniel Reynolds, who won the Cowboys’ first national title since 2005 with a facility and meet-record throw of 25.08 meters in the weight throw. The senior is the first Mountain West men’s athlete to win an indoor title since 2018, capping an undefeated season and earning first team honors.
New Mexico had a league-high five student-athletes competing with sophomore Habtom Samuel recording the highest finish among the Lobos as the runner-up in the 5,000-meter race (13:11.78), earning first team accolades. Samuel also picked up second team honors after finishing ninth overall in the 3,000-meter final (7:54.42). Lobo freshman Ishmael Kipkurui joined Samuel on the first team in the 5,000-meter race and added second team honors after finishing 14th in the 3,000-meter race. Fellow freshman Collins Kiprotich (14th, 4:03.59) and junior Brodie Young (12th, 46.56) each earned second team accolades after competing in the preliminaries for the mile and 400-meter dash, respectively. On the women’s side, freshman Pamela Kosgei finished third overall (15:07.57) in the 5,000 meter race to garner first team honors and recorded a 12th-place finish in the 3,000-meter race (9:04.42) to earn a spot on the second team.
Colorado State’s Mya Lesnar and Gabi Morris both competed in the shot put for a second consecutive year. Lesnar, the defending champion in the event, finished in fourth place (18.20 meters), good for First Team All-America status, while Morris finished 16th (16.57 meters) to earn second team honors.
San José State’s Emilia Sjostrand competed in both the long jump (12th, 6.25 meters) and triple jump (9th, 13.31 meters), earning second team accolades in both events, while Simone Johnson became a First Team All-American in the triple jump with an eight-place finish (13.40 meters).
San Diego State junior Shaquena Foote (52.58) finished 14th overall in the 400-meter preliminaries to pick up second team honors. Fellow junior Jenna Fee Feyerabend earned a spot on second team after finishing 10th overall in pentathlon (4,202).
Air Force’s Texas Tanner was scheduled to compete in both the weight throw and shot put, but did not finish the weight throw competition. Tanner concluded his national meet by placing 16th in the shot put (17.38 meters) to garner second team honors.
Rounding out the Mountain West participants was Logan Hammer of Utah State, who finished sixth overall (5.61 meters) to become a first team All-American.
