COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NCAA released the qualifiers for the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, March 14-15. The Mountain West has 14 student-athletes that qualified for the NCAA championships in 14 different events.

New Mexico is sending a league-high five student-athletes to the NCAA Championships. For the second straight year, Habtom Samuel will compete in the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races after setting MW championship records, sweeping the two events at the Conference meet. The sophomore qualified for the 5,000-meter with the NCAA’s top time this year when he set the MW all-time record of 13:04.92 in Boston in February. Lobo freshman Ishmael Kipkurui will join Samuel in the same races at the national meet after finishing runner-up to Samuel at the MW championship, while fellow freshman Collins Kiprotich will run in the mile after he took the title at the Conference meet. Junior Brodie Young will compete in the 400-meter race after he won gold at MW championship with a MW all-time record of 45.46, which ranks No. 3 in the NCAA this season. On the women’s side, freshman Pamela Kosgei, the 2025 Mountain West Champion in the mile, 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter races, will compete in the latter two races and enters the national meet with the No. 3 time in the 5,000-meter race (15:00.36).

Colorado State’s Mya Lesnar and Gabi Morris both qualified for the shot put for a second consecutive year. Lesnar, the back-to-back MW shotput champion, enters the NCAA championship with the third-best mark in shot put in the nation at 19.02 meters, while Morris’ 17.64 meters is 15th.

San José State’s Emilia Sjostrand qualified for the long jump and triple jump, while Simone Johnson will join Sjostrand in the triple jump. Sjostrand won the MW title in the triple jump for the third straight year with a mark of 14.01 meters, the No. 2 distance in the NCAA in 2025. Johnson’s 13.78 meters from her runner-up finish at the Conference meet is the fourth-best in the nation.

San Diego State also saw two student-athletes qualify for the national meet. Junior Shaquena Foote, who won gold in the 200-meter and set the MW all-time record in winning the 400-meter dash, will compete to win a national title in the 400 this weekend. Fellow junior Jenna Fee Feyerabend    will also represent the Aztecs in Virginia in the pentathlon after capturing the MW pentathlon title in Albuquerque two weeks ago.

Wyoming’s Daniel Reynolds will enter the weight throw championship as the No. 1 mark in the country this season with his Conference championship winning throw of 25.06 meters the third-best in the NCAA all time. Air Force’s Texas Tanner will join Reynolds in the weight throw after qualifying with No. 8 distance in the country at 23.46 meters. Tanner will also compete in the shot put at the national meet.

Rounding out the Mountain West participants is Logan Hammer of Utah State, who will compete in the pole vault after qualifying with the seventh-best mark in the NCAA at 5.61 meters.
