AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST
- Mountain West women’s basketball has logged a nonconference win percentage of .597 in 2024-25, which is its best since the 2009-10 season, when the league went 79-48 (.622).
- The Mountain West’s nonconference record ranks sixth among all DI conferences, following the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, ACC and the Big East, respectively.
- Three Mountain West programs are ranked in the Top 100 of the NET: UNLV (46), Wyoming (79) and Colorado State (87).
- The Mountain West has shot 33 percent from 3-point range since the beginning of the new year, the third-highest rate by any conference in that time frame behind only the Big Ten (34.5) and the Big 12 (33.7).
- From the free-throw line, the Mountain West has shot 74.8 percent since the beginning of January, the fourth-highest rate by any DI conference, trailing only the Big East (75.6), the Big Sky (75.1) and the WCC (75.0).
- In January, the Mountain West shot 33.9 percent from beyond the arc, the best 3-point percentage by any DI conference in that month.
- Mountain West women’s basketball has an average NET of 162.5 this season and is on pace for its second-best average since the NET was implemented in 2020-21.
- The MW ranks seventh among DI conferences in average NET rankings, trailing the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Big East and the AAC, respectively.
- Mountain West teams are averaging 14.1 turnovers per game in Conference play this season, the fewest among all DI conferences. The only time the MW finished with a lower rate in league play was in 2021-22 (13.7).
- UNLV secured its fourth straight MW regular-season title this past week. The Rebels have gone 66-5 (.930) in regular-season Conference play since 2021-22, the fifth-best among all DI teams.
- Madison Smith (28) and Milahnie Perry (25) each had a 25-point game during Air Force’s win over Boise State last Saturday, their second time doing so this year (Jan. 11). They are one of four DI duos with multiple such outings this season and are the second such MW duo to do this all-time, joining San José State’s Rebecca Woodberry and Ta’Rea Cunnigan, who did it in the 2013-14 season and again in 2014-15.
- UNLV’s Kiara Jackson is second in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.6), following UConn’s Paige Bueckers.
- Two Mountain West players have been named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year midseason watch list: Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek and Fresno State’s Mia Jacobs.
- Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the USBWA on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
- Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year watch list.
- Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year watch list.
- UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque was named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year midseason watch list.
- Three-time defending Conference tournament champion UNLV looks to extend its reign for a MW record-tying fourth consecutive year (Boise State, 2017-20). The Rebels’ four consecutive regular-season titles, including this season, are tied for the longest streak in Conference history with Colorado State, which won four straight from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
