COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State clinched the regular-season Mountain West gymnastics championship with a victory over Air Force on Friday night and generated a trio of weekly award winners as the MW announced accolades for Week 8 of the 2025 gymnastics season.
ALL-AROUNDER OF THE WEEK
MAGGIE SLIFE, AIR FORCE
So., Oconomowoc, Wisconsin / Arrowhead HS
- Scored a conference-best 39.350 in the all-around, capturing the individual title at Boise State.
- Recorded a 9.800 on vault, 9.875 on bars, 9.850 on beam and a 9.825 on floor en route to her all-around total.
- Slife has won a league-best 12 weekly awards this season.
VAULT & BARS SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
EMILY LOPEZ, BOISE STATE
Sr., Mission Viejo, California / Trabuco Hills HS
- Scored a league-best 9.900 on vault to capture the individual title against Air Force and help Boise State secure the MW regular-season title.
- Scored a league-best 9.925 on bars to capture the individual title on that event, as well.
- Lopez has been named the Vault Specialist twice this season, while also earning four Bars Specialist honors.
BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
EMMA LOYIM, BOISE STATE
Sr., Mountain Lakes, New Jersey / Mountain Lakes HS
- Scored a league-best 9.925 on beam to capture the individual title against Air Force and help Boise State secure the MW regular-season title.
- The award is Loyim’s first Beam Specialist recognition this season.
FLOOR SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
NYLA MORABITO, UTAH STATE
So., Welland, Ontario, Canada / Notre Dame College School
- Scored a league-best 9.850 on floor to capture the individual title in a dual meet at San José State.
- The award is Morabito’s third Floor Specialist recognition this season.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
KRISTINA SHCHENNIKOVA, BOISE STATE
Fr., Morrison, Colorado / Lakewood HS
- Scored a 9.875 on bars, the highest mark by a freshman on any event this week.
- Finished tied for second on the event alongside Air Force sophomore Maggie Slife.
- Also competed on beam during the meet as the Broncos clinched the MW regular-season title.
- Shchennikova has earned four Freshman of the Week honors, including three in the last four weeks.
Mountain West teams return to action on Friday, March 7, with Air Force at Utah State, and Boise State and San José State also taking to the road to face Southern Utah and UC Davis, respectively. The meet in Davis, California, will also feature Eastern Michigan. The Spartans wrap up the week hosting Oregon State on Sunday, March 9.
The 2025 regular season will culminate at the Credit Union 1 MW Gymnastics Championship, slated to be hosted by San José State on Saturday, March 22. Tickets are available at this link or through the SJSU ticket office.
