COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force’s Madison Smith was named the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and UNLV’s Meadow Roland was selected as the MW Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.
This is the fourth MW weekly honor for Roland and second for Smith during the 2024-25 season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MADISON SMITH, AIR FORCE
Senior, Guard, Connell, Washington/Connell HS
- Helped the Falcons to a 1-1 week at home with a three-point loss to San Diego State (63-66) and a victory over Boise State (75-68).
- Averaged 23.5 points, five rebounds, three steals and 2.5 assists per game.
- Shot 47.4 percent from the floor, 43.8 percent from 3 and was perfect from the free-throw line.
- Against the Aztecs, logged 19 points, two assists and one rebound.
- Against the Broncos, tallied 28 points, nine rebounds, six steals, three assists and one block.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MEADOW ROLAND, UNLV
Forward, Fresno, California/San Joaquin Memorial HS
- Helped the Lady Rebels to a 2-0 week at home with wins over Boise State (83-53) and San José State (89-56). The win over Boise State clinched the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship for the Scarlet and Grey.
- Averaged 20 points, six rebounds, two assists and one block per game.
- Across the two contests, shot 62.5 percent from the field and nearly 91 percent from the charity stripe.
- Against the Broncos, registered 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block.
- Against the Spartans, collected 24 points, six rebounds, one assist and one block.
