AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST

  • Mountain West women’s basketball has logged a nonconference win percentage of .597 in 2024-25, which is its best since the 2009-10 season, when the league went 79-48 (.622).
  • The Mountain West’s nonconference record ranks sixth among all DI conferences, following the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, ACC and the Big East, respectively.
  • Three Mountain West programs are ranked in the Top 100 of the NET: UNLV (47), Colorado State (83) and Wyoming (93).
  • The Mountain West has shot 32.9 percent from beyond the arc since January 1, 2025, the third-best 3-point percentage by any DI conference behind only the Big Ten (33.9) and Big 12 (33.8). The league has also shot 74.9 percent from the free-throw line in that time, which is the fourth-best in DI behind the Big East (75.4), West Coast (75.3) and Big Sky (75.2).
  • In January, the Mountain West shot 33.9 percent from beyond the arc, the best 3-point percentage by any DI conference in that month.
  • Mountain West women’s basketball has an average NET of 161.9 this season and is on pace for its best average since the NET was implemented in 2020-21.
  • The MW ranks seventh among DI conferences in average NET rankings, trailing the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Big East and the AAC, respectively.
  • Mountain West teams are averaging 13.4 turnovers per game in Conference play this season, the fewest among all DI conferences. The only time the MW finished with a lower rate in league play was in 2021-22 (13.1).
  • UNLV has six different players this season with at least 200 points and 15 made 3s, tied for the most in DI with Stephen F. Austin and Utah. The only other MW team to have that many players with those marks in a single campaign was Utah in 2005-06.
  • Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek has seven games this season with at least 15 points and zero turnovers, including her last game against UNLV. That mark is tied for the most such games in DI during the 2024-25 season along with Columbia’s Riley Weiss and tied for the second-most in MW history behind New Mexico’s Jasia Nunn, who had eight such games in 2017-18.
  • New Mexico’s Vianè Cumber and Destinee Hooks are one of six DI duos this season to each have at least 450 points and 40 made 3-pointers. The last MW team to have such a duo was the 2017-18 New Mexico squad, with the duo of Charise Beynon and Tesha Buck.
  • UNLV’s Kiara Jackson is second in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.7), following UConn’s Paige Bueckers.
  • Two Mountain West players have been named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year midseason watch list: Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek and Fresno State’s Mia Jacobs.
  • Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the USBWA on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
  • Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year watch list.
  • Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year watch list.
  • UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque was named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year midseason watch list.
  • Three-time defending regular-season and Conference tournament champion UNLV looks to extend its reign for a fourth consecutive year. The three consecutive regular-season and tournament titles are a first in Conference history.
