COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2025 Mountain West football schedule was released today and is comprised of 96 games, including 48 Conference matchups.
The Mountain West is coming off a 2024 season in which five teams played in bowl games, including Boise State earning the No. 3 seed into the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff and participating in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. Boise State and UNLV both finished the season inside the national rankings, with the Broncos landing ninth in the final US LBM Coaches Poll and eighth in The Associated Press Top 25 and the Rebels finishing No. 24 and No. 23 in those polls, respectively. Boise State was No. 9 in the final CFP rankings and UNLV was No. 24.
The 2025 season will see four MW programs welcome new head coaches: Fresno State (Matt Entz), New Mexico (Jason Eck), UNLV (Dan Mullen) and Utah State (Bronco Mendenhall).
The 2025 schedule will play out over 15 weeks, concluding with the Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship Game on Friday, Dec. 5. Boise State and UNLV squared off in the title tilt for the second straight season in 2024, with the Broncos emerging victorious on their home turf.
The 2025 season gets underway with two Week 0 contests, as Fresno State visits Kansas and Hawai‘i welcomes Stanford. All 12 league teams are in action in Week 1. Conference play starts in Week 3, when Utah State hosts Air Force.
The MW schedule features 16 games against Autonomous 4 opponents, including three of the four teams that reached the CFP semifinals last season. Nevada opens its season at Penn State on Aug. 30, San José State plays at Texas on Sept. 6 and Boise State visits national runner-up Notre Dame on Oct. 4.
All told, the MW plays five teams that finished the season ranked in the US LBM, AP and CFP polls. The Black Knights were 21st in the final coaches and AP polls and No. 22 in the last CFP rankings, while the Buffs were No. 25 in the final coaches and AP polls and No. 23 in the final CFP poll.
With the 2025 MW schedule announced, the Conference’s national television partners, CBS Sports and FOX Sports, will now initiate a selection procedure that will include shifting some games to non-Saturday dates. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and kick times.
