AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST
- Mountain West women’s basketball has logged a nonconference win percentage of .597 in 2024-25, which is its best since the 2009-10 season, when the league went 79-48 (.622).
- The Mountain West’s nonconference record ranks sixth among all DI conferences, following the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, ACC and the Big East, respectively.
- The Mountain West shot 33.9 percent from beyond the arc in January 2025, the best 3-point percentage by any DI conference. The league shot 75.4 percent from the free-throw line in that time, which is the second-best in DI behind the Big East (75.5).
- Three Mountain West programs are ranked in the Top 90 of the NET: UNLV (47), Wyoming (86) and Colorado State (89).
- Mountain West women’s basketball has an average NET of 161.7 this season and is on pace for its best average since the NET was implemented in 2020-21.
- The MW ranks seventh among DI conferences in average NET rankings, trailing the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Big East and the AAC, respectively.
- UNLV has won 80 games by at least 10 points over the last four seasons (since 2021-22), ninth-most in DI over that time frame. The next closest MW team, Colorado State, has 50 such wins during the same time frame.
- Mountain West teams are averaging 13.3 turnovers per game in Conference play this season, the fewest among all DI conferences. The only time the MW finished with a lower rate in conference play was in 2021-22 (13.1).
- Fresno State’s Mia Jacobs is one of three DI players this season ranking within the top two in their conference in points, rebounds and steals, along with Coppin State’s Laila Lawrence and South Dakota’s Grace Larkins. The last MW player to finish a season with such marks was UNLV’s Linda Frohlich in 1999-00.
- Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig has recorded at least 15 points, 15 rebounds and a block in back-to-back games. The last Mountain West player to reach those marks in consecutive games was UNLV’s Linda Frohlich from Feb. 24 to March 1, 2001.
- UNLV’s Kiara Jackson leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.7).
- Two Mountain West players have been named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year midseason watch list: Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek and Fresno State’s Mia Jacobs.
- Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the USBWA on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
- Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year watch list.
- Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year watch list.
- UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque was named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year midseason watch list.
- Three-time defending regular-season and Conference tournament champion UNLV looks to extend its reign for a fourth consecutive year. The three consecutive regular-season and tournament titles are a first in Conference history.
