AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST
- Mountain West women’s basketball has logged a nonconference win percentage of .597 in 2024-25, which is its best since the 2009-10 season when the league went 79-48 (.622).
- The Mountain West’s nonconference record ranks sixth among all DI conferences, following the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, ACC and the Big East, respectively.
- The Mountain West shot 33.9 percent from beyond the arc in January 2025, the best 3-point percentage by any DI conference. The league shot 75.4 percent from the free-throw line in that time, which is the second best in DI behind the Big East (75.5).
- Three Mountain West programs are ranked in the Top 100 of the NET: UNLV (48), Wyoming (82) and Colorado State (90).
- Mountain West women’s basketball has an average NET of 164.6 this season and is on pace to be its best since the NET was implemented in 2020-21.
- The MW ranks seventh among DI conferences in average NET rankings, trailing the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Big East and the AAC, respectively.
- UNLV is 11-1 or better in Conference play for the fourth straight season, the longest streak in Mountain West history. The only other DI teams to do this in each of the last four seasons are FGCU, South Dakota State and UConn. South Carolina could join the group pending the result of its next matchup.
- Wyoming is the only MW team that has shot at least 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the foul line in three straight Conference games in league history.
- Boise State’s Abby Muse is the only MW player all-time to have at least 1,000 rebounds and 300 blocks in her career and is one of two active DI players with those career numbers along with Kansas State’s Ayoka Lee. Muse (1,081) is currently tied for second in MW history with UNLV’s Desi-Rae Young (2020-24) and trails only UNLV’s Jamie Smith (1,145).
- New Mexico’s Vianè Cumber is one of two DI players this season leading her conference in made 3-pointers and free-throw percentage, along with Purdue Fort Wayne’s Lauren Ross. The only MW players to finish a season with such marks are Wyoming’s Ashley Elliott (2003-04) and BYU’s Erin Thorn (2002-03).
- Two Mountain West players have been named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year midseason watch list: Emma Ronsiek, Colorado State and Mia Jacobs, Fresno State.
- Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week by the USBWA on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
- Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year watch list.
- Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig was one of 20 student-athletes named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year watch list.
- UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque was named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year midseason watch list.
- Three-time defending regular-season and Conference tournament champion UNLV looks to extend its reign for a fourth consecutive year. The three consecutive regular-season and tournament titles are a first in Conference history.
