Colorado Springs, Colo. – Colorado State’s Cole Nordman has been named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Utah State’s Logan Hammer and Daniel Chase earn weekly honors for a second straight week with Hammer named the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Chase tabbed the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.

San Diego State’s Lauren Harper has been selected as the MW Women’s Track Athlete of the Week and Utah State’s Abbie Scott earned the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week nod to go along with a second consecutive MW Women’s Freshman of the Week honor.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
COLE NORDMAN, COLORADO STATE
Senior, Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS

  • Broke the Mountain West and Colorado State record in the 60m hurdles, posting at time of 7.71 to win the event at the Colorado Classic.
  • The time broke the previous record that had stood since 1998.
  • Added a career-best 6.68 to finish second in the 60m dash, clocking the fourth-best time in program history.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
LOGAN HAMMER, UTAH STATE
Junior, Nampa, Idaho/Columbia HS

  • Finished first in the pole vault at the Snake River Open, breaking his own Utah State record in the event, a mark he set just last week.
  • Cleared 5.55 meters (18-2.5) to also break the Idaho State facility record that was set in 2002.
  • Best pole vault mark of any Mountain West athlete this season and fifth-best in the country so far.

MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
DANIEL CHASE, UTAH STATE
Woods Cross, Utah/Woods Cross HS

  • Recorded a pair of first-place finishes in the 60m and 200m races at the Snake River Open.
  • Ran a 6.70 in the 60m to tie his career high, which ranks third all-time in school history and is the third-fastest in the MW this season.
  • Recorded a time or 21.67 in the 200m, besting his previous career high by 0.39.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LAUREN HARPER, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Weaverville, Calif./Trinity HS

  • Finished fifth out of 37 runners in the 800m at the UW Invite.
  • Her time of 2:09.43 in the event is the fastest in the MW this season and ranks 27th in the nation.
  • Won the mile open section at Mile City with a personal-best time of 4:55.33, which ranks fourth-best in program history and is the fifth-fastest time in the conference this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ABBIE SCOTT, UTAH STATE
Freshman, Rigby, Idaho/Rigby HS

  • Took first place in the pole vault at the Snake River Open, clearing 4.00 meters (13-1.5) to win by four feet.
  • The mark is second-best in program history in the event and tied for best mark by a Mountain West Athlete this season.
