COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico junior guard Donovan Dent has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Wyoming newcomer Abou Magassa was selected the MW Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.

This is the second weekly honor for Dent in 2024-25 and first for Magassa.

MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DONOVAN DENT, NEW MEXICO

Junior, Guard, Riverside, California/Centennial

  • Led New Mexico to a pair of wins over San Diego State (62-48) and at Wyoming (61-53).
  • Averaged 19 points, 5.5 assists, 2.5 steals and two rebounds per game, while connecting on 48 percent of attempts from the floor.
  • Recorded a game-high 22 points at Wyoming, including 13 points to lead a second-half comeback. Also posted six assists and three boards.
  • Against the Aztecs, registered a game-high 16 points, five assists and three steals.

MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

ABOU MAGASSA, WYOMING

Forward, Morsang-sur-Orge, France/Saint Louis

  • Scored a career-best 10 points against New Mexico in a career-high 24 minutes of action off the bench.
  • Also recorded five rebounds and one blocked shot.
  • Was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor.
