COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior forward Nelly Junior Joseph has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while San Diego State newcomer Taj DeGourville was selected the MW Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.

This is the second weekly honor for both Joseph and DeGourville this season.

MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NELLY JUNIOR JOSEPH, NEW MEXICO

Senior, Forward, Benin City, Nigeria/Iona

  • Led New Mexico to a pair of wins over Fresno State (103-89) and Nevada (82-81) in overtime.
  • Averaged a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in two starts, while shooting 78.6 percent (11-for-14) from the field.
  • At Fresno State, recorded 12 points, 12 boards and four blocks.
  • Against Nevada, posted 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.
  • Hit the game-winning shot against the Wolf Pack as time expired in overtime.

MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

TAJ DeGOURVILLE, SAN DIEGO STATE

Guard, Las Vegas, Nevada/Wasatch Academy

  • Helped San Diego State to a 76-68 victory at Boise State.
  • Registered 13 points, six boards, one assist and one steal in 21 minutes of action.
  • Shot 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from the floor.
