BOISE, Idaho – For the second-consecutive season, Ashton Jeanty has been named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, SPORTyler announced. The award is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding Division I offensive player who graduated from a Texas high school or players at a four-year college in Texas. Jeanty is a product of Lone Star HS, located in Frisco, Texas.
The running back has set the Boise State and Mountain West single-season record for rushing yards (2,497), a mark that stands fourth in FBS single-season history. He has scored a nation-high 30 total touchdowns, including 29 on the ground. Jeanty also leads the country in all-purpose yards (2,613) and first downs (121).
Jeanty has recorded 1,889 yards after contact and 143 forced missed tackles, setting College Football Playoff-era records. Since 2019, no FBS player has eclipsed 1,889 rushing yards in a season. He has tallied these numbers despite facing stacked boxes, running for 1,829 yards and 25 touchdowns in 266 attempts against a 7+ man box.
The team captain is the first Boise State player to be named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award twice. Jay Ajayi was selected as a finalist in 2014. Jeanty was the recipient of the Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Award and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting.
BOISE STATE RETURNS TO FIESTA BOWL
Boise State earned the No. 3 seed and a berth in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl during the first expanded College Football Playoff. The Broncos will face the winner of Penn State vs. SMU at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. More information about the game is available on BroncoSports.com.
