BOISE, Idaho – Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson is one of nine finalists for the 2024 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, the Football Writers Association of America and Allstate Sugar Bowl announced. This adds to a collection of accolades that includes AFCA Region 5 Coach of the Year and Mountain West Coach of the Year.

Danielson has guided the Broncos to a 12-1 record this season, winning the 2024 MW Football Championship and earning the No. 3 seed and a first round bye in the first expanded College Football Playoff. Running back Ashton Jeanty is a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, Doak Walker Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award. Boise State has one of the nation’s top offenses this season, ranking fourth in scoring (39.1 ppg), sixth in rushing offense (250.5 ypg) and sixth in total offense (470.2 ypg). The Broncos also boast one of the nation’s top pass rushes, ranking second in sacks (51) and tying for third in tackles for loss (104).

Last season, Danielson became the first interim head coach in FBS history to win a conference championship game. He was promoted to full-time head coach the day after Boise State defeated UNLV, 44-20, in the 2023 MW Football Championship.

The finalists have been placed on a ballot which has been sent to the entire FWAA membership. The award honors regular season performance, including conference championship games. The 2024 recipient will be announced on Dec. 18. The official presentation will be at a reception on Jan. 18, 2025, in Atlanta, the site of the College Football Playoff National Championship.

BOISE STATE RETURNS TO FIESTA BOWL
Boise State earned the No. 3 seed and a berth in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl during the first expanded College Football Playoff. The Broncos will face the winner of Penn State vs. SMU on Dec. 31.
