AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST

Three Mountain West programs are ranked in the top 97 of the NET rankings: UNLV (56), San Diego State (62) and Boise State (97).

Wyoming’s win over Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 30, 71-66, marked the first win by a MW team over and ACC team since UNLV beat Clemson in December 2013. The Mountain West had five wins over the ACC/Big 12/Big East/Big Ten in November, tied for its most in a single month over those four conferences with November 2005 and November 2007.

Nine of the Mountain West’s 11 teams are .500 or better this season. That’s tied for the sixth-highest percentage of teams currently without a losing record by any conference this season.

Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig ranks third in DI in offensive rebounds this season with 41. It took Fertig eight games this season to reach 40-plus offensive rebounds, the fewest games to reach that mark in a season by a MW player in league history.

In Fresno State’s win over Tennessee-Martin, Mia Jacobs became the only DI player over the last 25 seasons to have a game with the following stat-line: 14-plus rebounds, 12-plus free throws made, 5-plus steals and 3-plus 3-pointers made.

Boise State’s Abby Muse is one of two active DI athletes with at least 100 steals and 250 blocks in her career, along with Kansas State’s Ayoka Lee. The only other MW players to ever have those numbers are San Diego State’s Paris Johnson and Fresno State’s Bego Faz Davalos.

Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek is one of 20 student-athletes named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year watch list.

Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig is one of 20 student-athletes named to the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year watch list.

Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek and Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig represent the Mountain West on the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watch list.

Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek, Utah State’s Cheyenne Stubbs and Wyoming’s Allyson Fertig represent the Mountain West on the World Exposure Top-50 Mid-Major women’s basketball players to watch in 2024-25.

UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque has been named to the Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year Award watch list.

Three-time defending regular-season and Conference tournament champion UNLV looks to extend its reign for a fourth consecutive year. The three consecutive regular-season and tournament titles are a first in Conference history.

Her Hoop Stats Preseason Bracketology revealed the MW to have the potential to be a two-bid league with UNLV securing a 12 seed while Colorado State is predicted to be in the play-in round for the shot at a 12 seed slot.
