COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Mountain West quarterbacks earned national weekly honors for their performances in Week 14. Colorado State’s Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, Hawai‘i’s Micah Alejado and San José State’s Walker Eget were named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 and Manning Award Stars of the Week after putting up big numbers in their final games of the regular season.
Fowler-Nicolosi accounted for 376 yards of total offense and five total touchdowns in the Rams’ come-from-behind 42-37 win over Utah State. The sophomore completed 31-of-46 passes for four TDs and ran for six yards and a score.
Alejado had a record-breaking debut in his first career start, leading Hawai‘i to a 38-30 win over New Mexico. The true freshman accounted for 523 yards of total offense and five TDs, passing for a Hawai‘i freshman-record 469 yards on 37 completions. He is the only FBS player to have 450-plus passing yards and 50-plus rushing yards in a game this year. He was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week.
Eget led the Spartans to a 34-31 victory over Stanford on Friday by throwing a career-high four touchdowns with 33 completions and 385 yards, leading a late game-winning drive to give the Spartans their first win over the Cardinal since 2006.
