COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Hawai‘i quarterback Micah Alejado has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, while Wyoming senior cornerback Tyrecus Davis is the MW Defensive Player of the Week and Cowboy senior placekicker John Hoyland was named the MW Special Teams Player of the Week.

The weekly awards are the sixth of Hoyland’s career, the first and second for Alejado and the first for Davis.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MICAH ALEJADO, HAWAI‘I
Freshman, Quarterback, Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman HS

  • Made his first career start in Hawai‘i’s 38-30 season-ending win over New Mexico, completing 37-of-57 passes for 469 yards and five touchdowns and rushing for 54 yards to finish with 523 yards of total offense, the second-highest total in the FBS this season and the most by an FBS freshman since 2022.
  • Only FBS player to have 450-plus passing yards and 50-plus rushing yards in a game this year and the first quarterback in UH history to do so. First FBS freshman to put up those numbers since 2021.
  • His 37 completions and 469 passing yards were the most by an FBS freshman and his five passing TDs are tied for the most by a freshman this year.
  • His completions, attempts, passing yards, passing TDs, and total offense are the most by a UH quarterback in his starting debut. Set Hawai‘i freshman records for passing yards and passing TDs.
  • His passing total was the highest for a Rainbow Warrior QB since 2019 and his five TDs were the most since 2018.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TYRECUS DAVIS, WYOMING
Senior, Cornerback, Greenville, Texas/Navarro CC

  • Tied a career-high with seven tackles (all solo), including a tackle for loss, and recorded an interception to help Wyoming top Washington State 15-14 to end the season.
  • Interception came with just 10 seconds left, sealing the comeback win.
  • Helped the Cowboys hold the Cougars to just 285 yards of total offense, well below their season average of 434 per game, and just 14 points, far below their average of over 50 at home.
  • Led a Wyoming defense that held Washington State to just 1-for-10 on third down and just 56 yards in the second half.
  • Recorded a tackle on fourth down in the fourth quarter to force a turnover on downs.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOHN HOYLAND, WYOMING
Senior, Placekicker, Broomfield, Colo./Legacy HS

  • Recorded nine points in Wyoming’s 15-14 win over Washington State, going 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts.
  • Got the Cowboys on the board with a 40-yard make with 4 seconds left in the opening quarter.
  • Added a 22-yard make as time expired in the first half to draw Wyoming within a possession at 14-6.
  • Converted his third straight field goal with 2:07 left in the third quarter, hitting from 42 yards.
  • Extending his school record to 73 career field goals, which ranks third in MW history.
