COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Eleventh-ranked Boise State will host No. 22 UNLV in the 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho, on Friday, Dec. 6. The contest will be a rematch of the 2023 title tilt.
Boise State capped the regular season with an 11-1 overall record and went 7-0 in MW play to clinch the right to host the title game. The Broncos will bring a 10-game winning streak into the championship game and have won 11 straight at home.
Led by Heisman frontrunner Ashton Jeanty, Boise State will be appearing in the MW title game for the third straight season and the eighth time overall in the game’s 12th season of existence. The Broncos will host the game for the sixth time and first since 2022 and are looking for their fifth title.
UNLV punched its ticket to the championship game with a 38-14 win over rival Nevada on Saturday. The Rebels finished the regular season with a 10-2 overall mark and went 6-1 in league play, winning the tiebreaker for the second spot in the title game over Colorado State (8-4, 6-1 MW) by virtue of its CFP ranking.
UNLV is in the championship game for the second straight season and second time overall. The Rebels are seeking their first title.
Boise State is the defending champion after beating UNLV 44-20 in Las Vegas last season. This season’s rematch will be just the second in the history of the MW Championship game, which dates to 2013. Boise State and Fresno State squared off in consecutive years, with the Broncos winning in 2017 and the Bulldogs in 2018.
Boise State and UNLV met on Oct. 25 of this season, with the Broncos earning a 29-24 win in Las Vegas.
The Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship will air on FOX for the fifth straight season. The contest is set for a 6 p.m. MT start, with the BIG NOON KICKOFF crew on-site for the Mountain West Championship Pregame show starting at 5 p.m.
