LOGAN, Utah – Utah State quarterback Bryson Barnes was named the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week following his performance in USU’s 41-20 Mountain West home win against San Diego State on Saturday.

Barnes was also named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week and was one of eight quarterbacks named a Manning Award Star of the Week.

National Quarterback of the Week
Bryson Barnes, Quarterback (6-2, 205, Jr., Milford, Utah)

  • Accounted for four touchdowns and had 332 yards of total offense as he came off the bench in the second quarter.
  • Set a single-game school record for rushing yards by a quarterback as he gained a career-high 193 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown. It was Barnes’ first career 100-yard rushing game.
  • Those 193 rushing yards are the second-most by a Mountain West quarterback this year and the fifth-most by a quarterback at the FBS level.
  • Was 13-of-15 passing for 139 yards and a season-high three touchdowns.
  • Helped Utah State amass a season-high 322 rushing yards as a team.
  • Barnes entered the game midway through the second quarter with Utah State trailing 10-0 and led USU to 41 unanswered points.
