LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s Rahsul Faison and Spencer Petras have both been invited to play in the 2025 Hula Bowl it was recently announced.

The 79th Hula Bowl All-Star game will be held at FBS Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. (MT). The game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Faison and Petras will be the 14th and 15th Aggies to play in the Hula Bowl all-time. Other Aggies to play in the all-star game include Hale Motu’apuaka (2024), Gerold Bright (2019), Donald Penn (2006), Ben Holbrook (2000), Walter Fiefia (1999), Brandon Dyson (1998), Scott Parrish (1976), Phil Olsen (1970), Bill Staley (1968), Ron Sbranti (1966), Jim McNaughton (1964), Lionel Aldridge (1963) and Merlin Olsen (1962).

Faison, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior running back from Pottstown, Pennsylvania (Salisbury (CT) HS/Snow College) has spent the last two seasons at Utah State and has appeared in 23 games with 11 starts. He currently ranks 14th all-time in school history with 1,727 rushing yards, while his 5.9 yards per carry average is tied for the 10th-best in school history. He also has 13 career rushing touchdowns and seven career 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high 191 yards in his last outing against Hawai’i.

This year, Faison has played in all 10 games with eight starts and has rushed for 991 yards on 177 carries (5.6 ypc) and eight touchdowns and is nine yards shy of his first-career 1,000-yard campaign. Overall, he would be one of 16 players in USU history to rush for 1,000 yards 20 times.

On the season, he ranks third in the Mountain West and 22nd in the nation in rushing (99.1 ypg), fourth in the MW and 42nd in the nation in all-purpose yards (106.7 ypg), seventh in the MW and 47th in the nation in rushing yards per carry (5.60), seventh in the MW and 56th in the nation in rushing touchdowns with eight (0.80 pg), and tied for second in the MW with five 100-yard rushing games.

Petras, a 6-5, 230-pound graduate quarterback from San Rafael, California (Marin Catholic HS/Iowa) is in his first year with Utah State and has started eight games. On the season, he is 209-of-320 (.653) passing for 2,228 yards with 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and has set career-highs in completions, attempts, passing yards and passing touchdowns. He also has one 400-yard passing game and three 300-yard passing games this year, both of which are tied for the most in the Mountain West.

Petras’ 65.3 completion percentage currently ranks as the fourth-best in a single season in school history and would be a school record for a career. He is also two touchdown passes and 17 completions shy of entering the single season top 10 in each category at USU.

Against UNLV earlier this year, Petras threw for a career-high 461 yards and a career-high-tying three touchdowns as he was 41-of-59, which are also career highs. In fact, those 461 passing yards are the fifth-most in a single game in school history, while his 41 completions and 59 attempts are single game school records.

On the season, Petras ranks first in the Mountain West and sixth in the nation in completions (26.13 pg), first in the MW and eighth in the nation in passing (286.0 ypg), second in the MW and 14th in the nation in total offense (291.5 ypg), third in the MW and 31st in the nation in completion percentage (.653), third in the MW and 36th in the nation in passing touchdowns with 17 (2.13 pg), fourth in the MW and 35th in the nation in points responsible for (13.8 ppg), sixth in the MW and 63rd in the nation in passing efficiency (136.7), ninth in the MW and 81st in the nation in yards per pass attempt (7.15), and 10th in the MW and 98th in the nation in yards per completion (10.95).
