BOISE, Idaho – Abby Muse secured a steal with 17 seconds left and Boise State hit four free throws down the stretch to solidify a win over Colorado, 50-47, Sunday in ExtraMile Arena.

The victory marks the first win over a Power 5/4 opponent at home since the Broncos defeated Washington, 85-62, on Dec. 7, 2017. It also marks the second consecutive season with a Power 5/4 win after Boise State defeated Rutgers 68-65 last season.

Colorado trailed 46-45 and had a chance to take the lead before Muse intercepted Nyamer Diew’s pass that was intended for Jade Masogayo. Muse immediately found Mary Kay Naro, who was fouled and converted a pair of free throws on the other to give the Broncos (2-0) a three-point lead.

The Buffaloes (2-1) responded with a layup with three seconds remaining, then immediately fouled Teryn Gardner. The freshman drilled both free throw attempts with 0.9 seconds remaining, and Colorado’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer to send the game to overtime was unsuccessful.

Gardner finished with a team-high 10 points in the contest, and became the first freshman to record five steals in a game since Marta Hermida did so in 2015. Defensively, the Broncos held the Buffs to 33.9% from the floor, including an 0-17 performance from 3-point range.
