BOISE, Idaho – Boise State continued its “C.L.I.M.B.” in the national rankings this week as the Broncos moved up to No. 15 in the Associated Press poll while rising to No. 19 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
A two-spot jump in the AP poll and a three-spot rise in the Coaches Poll came after the Broncos continued to roll through the first half of the 2024 season.
Boise State’s No. 17 slot is the highest the Broncos have been ranked by the AP since a No. 14 ranking on Oct. 13, 2019. It marks the first time since the final 2019 rankings that Boise State has been ranked in the top 20 in both polls. That year, the Broncos finished 18th in both major polls and 19th in the CFP rankings.
A 28-7 win at Hawai’i late Saturday night was the impetus for voters to move Boise State up in both polls.
Boise State has the nation’s third-best scoring offense (46.8 ppg) and third-ranked total offense (523.0 ypg) to compile a 5-1 (2-0 MW) record this season. The only demerit on the slate so far was a 37-34 decision at then-No. 7/6 Oregon as the Ducks hit a field goal as time expired to escape the Bronco threat.
The Broncos also lead the nation in sacks (4.83 spg) and matched a season-high eight sacks in the win at Hawai’i. The Broncos registered four sacks earlier this season against that same Oregon team that has not allowed a sack since.
Boise State already holds the distinction of the nation’s best record while ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. Following last night’s win, the Blue and Orange are now 116-21 (.847) while ranked by the AP, the best record of any team over the past 40 years.
The Broncos received 597 points in this week’s AP poll, an increase of 134 votes from last week’s No. 17 ranking. In the US LBM Coaches Poll, Boise State received 364 points, up 151 points from last week.
After playing six games and reaching the halfway point of the season, Boise State will take this week off before returning to action at UNLV on Friday, Oct. 25. That game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
