NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Boise State women’s cross country team took home a fifth-place finish at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational, finishing four spots ahead of No. 25 Michigan State. The men’s team placed sixth behind four nationally-ranked teams.

Junior Kaiya Robertson led the way for the Broncos finishing the race in sixth (16:15.1), outrunning competitors from No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 5 BYU. Emily Jobes and Ines Borba followed with solid performances for Boise State, placing 38th and 50th, respectively.

For the second consecutive race, Tom Graham-Marr, Joe Hudson, and Brian Kiprotich were the top three finishers for the Broncos. Graham-Marr’s 23:09.6 was the fastest time for Boise State, helping him secure 23rd.

  • “Our women took a big step today with a much more complete effort amidst a loaded field.  We need to keep taking steps, but we have ourselves in a solid spot mid season,” said head coach Pat McCurry.
  • “I am so pleased with the fight of our men’s group.  Not our best start today but even with some guys racing beat up or in their season opener they showed remarkable resolve over the second half,” McCurry said.
