LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – After making his first start at the FBS level, new UNLV quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams has been named to this week’s Great 8 list of the Davey O’Brien Award and one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Williams dazzled both in the air and on the ground in leading the Rebels to a 59-14 win over Fresno State to open Mountain West play. The former Campbell transfer completed 13-of-16 attempts for 182 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 119 net yards and another score. This all came without a turnover or sack as his team scored its most points ever against a conference opponent in a regulation game.

All eight quarterbacks listed are now on the official Davey O’Brien Award Watch List and the national quarterback of the week will be announced on Tuesday from that group.

Williams and the undefeated Rebels will close out their non-conference schedule on Friday by hosting Syracuse for the first time ever. Kickoff at Allegiant Stadium is set for 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale now by calling (702) 739-FANS or visiting unlvtickets.com.
