COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five Mountain West football players are among the 52 members of the 2024 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watch List, as announced today by the organization.
The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award is presented annually to the FBS college football player who has demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field. The award honors the type of exemplary character and commitment to community, family and teammates demonstrated by Jason Witten, the 2012 NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year and one of the most prominent role models in the game.
Boise State senior defensive end Ahmed Hassanein, Colorado State graduate offensive lineman Jacob Gardner, Hawai‘i senior linebacker Logan Taylor, San José State senior wide receiver Nick Nash and UNLV senior linebacker Jackson Woodard represent the MW on the watch list.
The MW had the fifth-most selections among FBS conferences, trailing only the SEC (11), ACC (10), Big Ten (10) and Big 12 (nine).
Twenty semifinalists will be announced on Oct. 22. Three finalists will be named on Dec. 16. The eighth winner of the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award will be announced on Feb. 12, 2025, at a ceremony at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
