BOISE, Idaho – Boise State returned to the polls Sunday as the Associated Press voters listed the Broncos in the No. 25 slot.

This marks the first time since 2020, when the Broncos were ranked as high as No. 21 in Week 8 (Nov. 1). No. 25 Boise State is preparing to host Washington State (4-0) on Saturday in front of a sold out crowd at Albertsons Stadium. The Cougars were just outside of the top 25 rankings in the AP poll, finishing one spot behind the Broncos.

The 25th-ranked Broncos (2-1) are coming off a dominating 56-14 win over Portland State in front of a home opening crowd of 36,972, the fourth-largest crowd in Albertsons Stadium history. Only the verified ticket resale options as part of Boise State’s Ticketmaster partnership provide authentic tickets for sale for the first three games.

Washington State remains undefeated after escaping San Jose State with a 54-52 double overtime win at home over San Jose State.

This will be the fourth time in the series history that Washington State will make a trip to Boise to play on The Blue and the seventh meeting pitting the two programs against each other. The 2024 meeting between the Broncos and the Cougars is courtesy of the Mountain West/Pac-12 Scheduling Alliance for this season, but the game will not count in the MW standings.

Washington State last visited The Blue on Sept. 10, 2016, when the Broncos claimed a 31-28 win in front of 36,163 fans, the largest crowd to see a Broncos-Cougars game. The following year, Boise State made the trip up to Pullman and was edged in triple overtime, 47-44.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
