LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football is ranked in at least one of the two major polls for the first time in history as the Rebels sit at No. 25 in the US LBM Coaches Poll released by USA TODAY on Sunday.

UNLV is undefeated through three games after a thrilling 23-20 victory at Kansas on Friday. That marked the second road win of the year for the Rebels over a team from the Big 12 Conference as they opened the season with a 27-7 victory at Houston. Those games were sandwiched around a 72-14 home win over Utah Tech.

“We are certainly excited about the start of our season,” said second-year head coach Barry Odom, who improved to 12-5 since taking over in Las Vegas. “Our team understands the importance of preparation and how huge each opportunity is for our program. We need to improve in all three phases of the game to continue to play winning football.”

UNLV, which was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation as a member of the NCAA Division II, moved up to Division I in 1978. The program received votes in the polls in multiple seasons but never reached the top 25 – until now.

The Rebels are off this week before opening Mountain West play by hosting Fresno State on Saturday, September 28. Kickoff at Allegiant Stadium is set for 12:30 p.m. and prorated season tickets along with three-game mini-plans and single-game tickets are all available by visiting unlvtickets.com or calling (702) 739-FANS.
