COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Air Force cross country team kicked off the 2024 season this morning (Aug. 30) hosting the AFXC Classic in Colorado Springs.

“Today was a positive start to the competition season,” Air Force’s director of track & field and cross country Ryan Cole said. “We had some young guys show significant improvement from last year and Ally Peterson had a really strong run on the women’s side. The event serves as an early-season fitness check and bodes well for getting the full group together later in the fall.”

Peterson kicked off her senior season with a three-mile time of 17:00.2 to headline the women’s race. Classmate Halle Hamilton finished second in 17:25.2, while the sophomore duo of Liliane Aittama and Anna Harden finished third (17:51.0) and fourth (17:51.0),. Freshman Kimi Cahoon completed the Falcons’ top-team with an 18:10.6 debut (fifth).

Josh Razo paced a trio of sophomores to a 1-2-3 sweep in the men’s five-mile trek around Monument Valley Park, as he completed the course in 25:50.0. Classmates Benjamin Davenport (25:54.2) and Dominykas Remeikis (26:04.7) rounded out the sophomore sweep, while juniors Ethan Ashley and Ben Scheller finished fourth (26:08.7) and fifth (26:13.2), respectively, to round out the top five.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Lincoln, Neb.,m for the Woody Greeno / Jay Dirksen Invitational.
