COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nine Mountain West football players are among the 93 on the watch list for the 2024 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, as announced today. The award is presented by SPORTyler, Inc., in conjunction with the City of Tyler, Visit Tyler, and Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce.

Boise State junior running back Ashton Jeanty is among the MW’s nine members of the watch list. Jeanty was one of five finalists for the award last season. Nevada had a MW-high three members on the list, including senior quarterback Brendon Lewis, junior running back Savion Red and senior wide receiver Jaden Smith.

The MW’s nine representatives on the watch list trail only the Big 12, SEC, Big Ten and ACC.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or currently playing at Texas D1 four-year college.

The Watch List announced today will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for Jan. 22, 2025.

A player does not have to appear on the initial Watch List to be eligible to win the award. The Watch List is made up of players nominated from their respective schools.
