BOISE, Idaho – Boise State junior Ashton Jeanty secured his fifth preseason All-America honor, earning recognition from The Sporting News. He was included on the second team as an all-purpose player, adding to an impressive collection of preseason accolades. Athlon Sports, College Football Network, College Football News and Phil Steele have also named the Bronco star a preseason All-American.

Jeanty was named to the preseason watch lists for the Biletnikoff Award, Doak Walker Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award. He was the lone running back selected to the Biletnikoff Award watch list. He was named Mountain West Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and was tabbed Preseason All-MW by four outlets.

The Lone Star (Texas) High School product totaled 1,916 all-purpose yards in 2023, ranking third in the country. He led the nation in yards from scrimmage per game (159.67), missed tackles forced (106) and first downs (96). Jeanty ranked first among FBS running backs in receiving yards (569) and yards after catch (621). His Pro Football Focus offensive grade of 94.8 was the second-highest in the country.

The All-American scored 19 touchdowns last season, ranking second in the MW and fifth in the NCAA. He was the only player in the country with multiple rushing touchdowns and multiple receiving touchdowns of 50+ yards, tallying two of each. He eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark and 500-yard receiving mark in 10 games, becoming the first FBS player since 2016 to reach those milestones in that span.

Jeanty was named a team captain for the 2024 season. His 2023 campaign featured All-America honors from six outlets, including first team nods from College Football Network, ESPN and USA Today. He was named MW Offensive Player of the Year selection and earned a spot as a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
