LOGAN, Utah — Utah State football senior long snapper Jacob Garcia has been named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List it was announced on Monday.

The Patrick Mannelly Award is presented annually to the best long snapper in the nation. The Award was created in 2019 and benefits Bernie’s Book Bank, a non-profit organization located in Lake Bluff, Illinois. A total of 30 players were named to Monday’s watch list, with 10 semifinalists to be named later on November 11. Three finalists will be announced on November 25, and the winner selected at a live award ceremony in Lake Bluff on December 14.

Garcia, a native of Anaheim, California (Servite HS), has served as the Aggies’ long snapper since the 2021 campaign, appearing in 40 games overall, and was named to the Phil Steele 2024 Preseason All-Mountain West first team. He has recorded a pair of tackles during his career, both against Colorado State.

A two-time academic all-Mountain West recipient, Garcia was named a nominee for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a pair of awards recognizing players for their performance on the field as well as their impact in the community. At the 2023 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Garcia received the Humanitarian Award, which is annually given to a student-athlete from each team for exemplary community service and leadership efforts. Garcia was also named the Male Walk-on of the Year at Utah State’s annual U-Star Awards Banquet this past spring.

Fall Schedule
Utah State opens the 2024 season on Saturday, Aug. 31, as it hosts Robert Morris and begins Mountain West play at Boise State on Saturday, Oct. 5.
