ATLANTA, Ga. (July 24, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team was recognized Wednesday as one of the top academic squads in the country in 2023-24, as named by the WBCA. This marks the second time in the past three seasons that the Cowgirls have been a Top-25 WBCA Academic Team.

Wyoming boasted the 16th-best team GPA in the country in 2023-24, posing a cumulative GPA of 3.67 this past academic year. A total of nine Cowgirls were named to the Mountain West All-Academic Team this school year while three were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. On the court, UW made it to the Great Eight of the WNIT in 2024, after a third-place finish in the Mountain West.

The WBCA Academic Top-25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II, II, NAIA and two-year women’s basketball programs across the country.

“The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women’s basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom,” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. “The teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts!”

The Cowgirls were an honorable mention top-25 academic squad a season ago and were the No. 13 team in 2021-22.
