SAN DIEGO – The Mountain West announced today its 2024 All-MW baseball awards and individual honors as selected solely by the league’s head coaches. Air Force senior Jay Thomason and New Mexico senior Jake Holland were selected as the Tony Gwynn Co-Player of the Year, while Air Force senior Seungmin Shim was named MW Pitcher of the Year. San Diego State’s Finley Bates was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Year. Air Force head coach Mike Kazlausky was named the MW Coach of the Year.

Thomason is the Tony Gwynn Co-Player of the Year, becoming just the second Falcon to earn the honor and the third season in a row that Air Force has collected the award. The senior batted .385 with 45 hits, including 11 home runs, and 28 RBIs during league play. He also became the MW’s all-time home run leader before the Conference play concluded.

Holland is the eighth Lobo and first since 2017 to be named the Tony Gwynn Co-Player of the Year. The senior led the Mountain West with a .417 batting average after recording 48 hits, including 12 home runs and nine doubles. Holland also registered 45 RBIs and 36 runs scored.

Shim is the third Falcon selected as the MW Pitcher of the Year. The senior recorded a 6-2 mark, the most wins in Conference action, on the mound with a 3.72 ERA in 10 starts. Shim struck out 55 batters in MW play.

Bates, the third Aztec in program history named MW Freshman of the Year, posted a .375 batting average in 30 MW games. He recorded 48 hits, including 13 for extra bases and 23 runs scored.

Kazlausky was tabbed the MW Coach of the Year for the first time and is the second Air Force skipper to earn the honor. Kazlausky led the Falcons to the program’s first regular-season title with an 18-12 mark.
