COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship game will be nationally televised on FOX for the fifth consecutive year, as announced today by FOX Sports. The championship game is scheduled to kick off Friday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT/3 p.m. HT.

The Mountain West is proud to showcase its top two programs and display the accomplishments of its student-athletes in its annual title game on national television for the 12th consecutive year. The shift to Friday will provide a prime-time window for greater exposure nationally, as the Old Trapper MW Football Championship game will be one of just three title contests that day.

The Old Trapper MW Football Championship game will be hosted by the Conference team with the best winning percentage in MW play.

UNLV hosted the championship tilt for the first time last season, with Boise State emerging victorious and capturing its fourth MW championship game win and fifth MW title overall.

As the newly expanded College Football Playoff takes center stage this coming season, the Mountain West has its best opportunity to compete for a spot in the field during the CFP era. The new 12-team format will have the five highest-ranked conference champions (out of the nine FBS leagues) earning an automatic bid.

The 2024 MW football season kicks off Saturday, Aug. 29, with three teams in action in Week 0. Hawaiʻi hosts Delaware State, Nevada welcomes SMU to Reno and New Mexico faces Montana State in Albuquerque.
