LAS VEGAS – Carolina Millan took her singles and doubles matches to lead No. 8 seed San José State (14-7, 4-5 Mountain West) in a 4-3 win against No. 9 seed Boise State (8-13, 4-6 Mountain West) Wednesday in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament from the Darling Tennis Center and will take on No. 1 seed New Mexico on Thursday.
- The Spartans lost the doubles point and were down 3-0 before they won their four singles matches for the win.
- SJSU has never lost in the first round of the Mountain West Championships.
- Millan and Jovana Babic took their doubles match 6-2 and were the only ones to win in doubles.
- Millan beat Pauline Ernstberger 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
- Irena Muradyan took her singles match 7-5, 7-5 over Lorelyz Marruffo.
- Rozalina Youseva and Duru Durgan also won their singles matches to give the Spartans the victory.
- Youzeva went 7-5, 6-4 against Shauna Heffernan and Durgan clinched the victory for the Spartans going 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 against Ariadna Briones Ginesta.
