COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Three Mountain West gymnasts are among the 50 nominees nationwide for the 2024 AAI Award, which honors the most outstanding senior female gymnast in the country.

Boise State’s Courtney Blackson, San José State’s Lauren Macpherson and Utah State’s Brianna Brooks have been nominated for what is often likened to the Heisman Trophy for women’s gymnastics.

The AAI Award is a coach’s award, facilitated by AAI. Each year, head coaches are invited to submit nominations for the candidates they believe deserve the recognition.

The NCAA runner-up and a first-team All-American on vault in 2023, Boise State’s Blackson has earned five weekly Mountain West honors this season, twice earning the distinction on vault and being named the MW Floor Specialist of the Week three times.

San José State’s Macpherson, the 2023 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year, has earned eight weekly awards in the first season the Mountain West has sponsored gymnastics, including five MW Gymnast of the Week honors. She has earned weekly accolades on bars (one) and beam (two), as well.

The NCAA North Central Region Gymnast of the Year in 2023, Utah State’s Brooks earned MW Bars Specialist of the Week honors in Week 5 this season.
