COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State graduate Andrea Bergsdottir has been tabbed the Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Week for the first week of the 2024 spring season, while teammate Kara Kaneshiro has been selected as the MW Freshman of the Week.

The weekly honors are the first for both athletes. Kaneshiro was the MW Freshman of the Month for September.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
ANDREA BERGSDOTTIR, COLORADO STATE
Graduate, Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Natur
• Earned her first collegiate victory at the Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Feb. 2-3.
• Shot a 4-under-par 212 to win the tournament by two strokes.
• Was the only player in the field under par in all three rounds, opening with a 1-under 71 and following with a 2-under 70 in the second round, which included a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th hole. Closed the tournament with another 71, going 4-under over her final nine holes.
• Helped CSU to a fifth-place finish, its third top-five showing of the 2023-24 season. Tournament field included nine top-50 teams and all 12 were in the top 65.
• Jumped 161 spots in the national rankings to No. 53 after her win.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
KARA KANESHIRO, COLORADO STATE
Freshman, Honolulu, Hawai‘i/Kalani HS
• Tied for 16th at the Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Feb. 2-3.
• CSU’s second-best finisher in the event behind champion Andrea Bergsdottir.
• Shot 9-over-par 225, including an even-par 72 in the first round. One of only 18 players in the field of 63 to record a round of par or better.
• Turned in her fourth top-20 finish of the season.
• Helped CSU to its third top-five team finish of the season. The Rams were fifth in a field that included nine top-50 teams and had all 12 teams in the top 65.
