LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women’s golf sophomore Thienna Huynh received a sponsor exemption to play in the Copper Rock Championship, which is scheduled for May 15-18 at Copper Rock Golf Course in St. George, Utah.

The event is one of 20 tournaments played on the EPSON Tour, which is the official qualifying tour of the LPGA Tour and enters its 44th year.

Originally from Lilburn, Georgia, Huynh begins her second spring with the Rebels in 2024. During the fall portion of the 2023-24 season, she recorded three top-25 finishes with below-par scores in each of those, including a season-best 12th-place (-3) at the Hurricane Invitational and a season-low 4-under at the Jim West Challenge.

In her debut collegiate season, she was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and earned MW All-Conference Second Team honors. The accolades followed a season in which she led all freshmen in the conference in scoring average (73.80), while adding three top-20 and seven top-25 finishes.

A 2022-23 AJGA/Rolex Junior All-America honoree, Huynh has also found success in USGA amateur events. Among her highlights, she became the first Rebel to advance to the U.S. Amateur quarterfinals at Bel-Air Country Club this past summer and won the 2022 USGA Four-Ball Championship with her partner Sara Im.
