COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force senior Sean Maison has been named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Utah State sophomore Logan Hammer was tabbed the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and Air Force’s Wyatt Curl was selected as the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.

San Diego State sophomore Shaquena Foote has been selected as the MW Women’s Track Athlete of the Week and teammate Xiamara Young was named the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Colorado State’s Brooklyn Ewert was selected as the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
SEAN MAISON, AIR FORCE
Senior, Wheaton, Illinois/Wheaton Warrensville South HS

  • Placed second in the mile run at the Colorado Invitational with an altitude-adjusted time of 3:59.49.
  • Top DI finisher at the meet after clocking the third-fastest time in the MW.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
LOGAN HAMMER, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Nampa, Idaho/Columbia HS

  • Won the pole vault at the Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Meet with a clearance of 5.37 meters.
  • Clearance is the third-best mark in Utah State history.
  • Ranks first in the MW and 23rd in the nation this season.

MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
WYATT CURL, AIR FORCE
West Lafayette, Indiana/West Lafayette Junior/Senior

  • Placed 12th in the heptathlon in his collegiate debut at the New Mexico Classic, recording a score of 4,837.
  • Top freshman mark in the MW and ranks eighth in the league in 2024.

 

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
SHAQUENA FOOTE, SAN DIEGO STATE
Sophomore, Westmoreland, Jamaica/Petersfield HS

  • Placed third in the 400-meter run (53.26) and 22nd in the 60-meter dash (7.49) at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
  • Broke her own school record in the 400m. Also leads the MW and ranks 32nd in the NCAA.
  • First time running the 60m this season, ran the fourth-fastest time in the Conference.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
XIAMARA YOUNG, SAN DIEGO STATE
Junior, Las Vegas, Nevada/Fresno Pacific

  • Finished fourth overall and second among collegiate competitors at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in the triple jump with a mark of 13.10 meters.
  • Jump is the fifth best in SDSU indoor history and ranks 17th in the NCAA this season.

 

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BROOKLYN EWERT, COLORADO STATE
Loveland, Colorado/Mountain View HS

  • Placed second in the 800-meter run at the Colorado Invitational with a personal-best time of 2:12.16.
  • Third-fastest time by a freshman in the MW and ranks 11th in the Conference in 2024.
