GUADALAJARA, Mexico – It’s a good day for any golfer when they hit a hole-in-one, but that wasn’t the day’s highlight for Andrea Bergsdottir. The fifth-year player for the Rams not only aced the 140-yard 15th hole with her 9 iron but won the Collegiate Invitational for her first collegiate individual win.

Bergsdottir entered the final round tied for first at 3-under but could not quite find her game on the front nine. She made the turn at even par for the tournament and 3-over for the round including bogeys on the first and ninth hole. That didn’t detour Bergsdottir as she caught fire on the back nine with three straight birdies on holes 12-14 to move back up the leaderboard.

A birdie on the par 3, 17th sealed the victory for Bergsdottir as she shot a 4-under, 212 for the tournament.

She shot under par all three rounds with rounds of 71-70-71. It is the second individual win of the year for CSU joining Sofia Torres who won the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in the fall.

As a team, Colorado State finished fifth in a stacked tournament featuring all 12 teams ranked inside the top 65 in the nation, including nine in the top 50.

Freshman Kara Kaneshiro picked up her fourth top 20 finish of the season with a 9-over, 225 to tie for 16th.

The Rams return to the course February 25-26 at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona.
