COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico graduate student Jaelen House has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while New Mexico’s JT Toppin was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Week.
This is the first MW weekly honor for House this season and seventh of the season for Toppin.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JAELEN HOUSE, NEW MEXICO
Graduate, Guard, Phoenix, Arizona/Arizona State
- Led New Mexico to a pair of wins over over San José State (95-75) and Nevada (89-55).
- Averaged 19.5 points, five assists and four steals per game, while connecting on 46.4 percent of attempts from the field and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc.
- Recorded a team-high 18 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals at SJSU.
- Against the Wolf Pack, tallied a game-high 21 points, six assists and six steals.
MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JT TOPPIN, NEW MEXICO
Forward, Dallas, Texas/Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff
- Helped New Mexico to a 2-0 record with victories over San José State (95-75) and Nevada (89-55).
- Averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, while shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from the floor.
- Against the Spartans, registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
- Added five points and five rebounds against the Wolf Pack.
