AUSTIN, Texas – Boise State defensive end Ahmed Hassanein has earned Second Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors, the CSC announced Tuesday.
Hassanein, who maintains a 3.68 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies, is the 15th Bronco football player to be named an Academic All-American by the CSC (formerly CoSIDA). Boise State football has 22 total selections, tallying seven since 2019.
A native of Cairo, Egypt, Hassanein was named First Team All-Mountain West. He finished the season with 12.5 sacks, ranking fifth nationally. This total is the sixth-best single-season number in Boise State history. His streak of nine-straight games with at least 0.5 sacks marked the longest in the FBS since 2015. He also recorded 16.5 TFLs, the third-most in the MW.
The junior was one of two MW players to be named Academic All-America, with UNLV’s Jackson Woodard also garnering honors. Hassanein was joined by teammates Michael Callahan, DJ Schramm, Alexander Teubner and Zion Washington on the CSC Academic All-District list, which was announced on Dec. 19.
