COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Familiar names highlighted those honored by the Mountain West as the league doled out weekly gymnastics awards for Week 2 of the 2024 season on Tuesday.
GYMNAST OF THE WEEK/CO-BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
LAUREN MACPHERSON, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Sr., Gilbert, Arizona / Perry HS
• Her 39.175 in the all-around propelled the Spartans to a 194.950-194.025 victory at Sacramento State.
• Scored a meet-best-tying 9.900 on the beam, sharing the individual title with teammate Katherine Weyhmiller.
• Repeated as MW Gymnast of the Week.
VAULT SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
JAUDAI LOPES, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Sr., Fairfield, California / Buckingham Charter Magnet HS
• Scored a 9.875 on vault.
• Helped the Spartans top Sacramento State, 194.950-194.025.
BARS SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
EMILY LOPEZ, BOISE STATE
Sr., Mission Viejo, California / Trabuco Hills HS
• Logged a 9.900 on the bars.
• Helped Boise State to a team score of 196.250 and a second-place finish in a quad meet with Nebraska, North Carolina and Arizona.
• Earned her second straight MW Bars Specialist of the Week honor.
CO-BEAM SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
KATHERINE WEYHMILLER, SAN JOSÉ STATE

• Scored a meet-best-tying 9.900 on the beam, sharing the individual title with teammate Lauren Macpherson.
• Helped the Spartans to a 194.950-194.025 victory at Sacramento State.
FLOOR SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

• Tied a school record on floor, scoring a 9.950 on the event.
• Loyim’s score is the highest by any gymnast on any event in the MW this season.
• Helped Boise State score 196.250 and finish second in a quad meet with Nebraska, North Carolina and Arizona.
CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
VICTORIA SMIRNOV, BOISE STATE
Hickory, North Carolina / Fred T. Foard HS
• Scored a 9.850 on bars.
• Helped the Broncos finish second with a team score of 196.250 in a quad meet with Nebraska, North Carolina and Arizona.

MARISSA ASHTON, SAN JOSÉ STATE

• Scored a 9.850 on the beam.
• Helped the Spartans to a 194.950-194.025 victory at Sacramento State.
• Won her second straight MW Freshman of the Week honor.
All four members of the MW in gymnastics compete this week, as Air Force opens its 2024 season on Friday in a quad meet at Boise State. The Falcons will compete alongside another MW foe, San José State, and West Chester. Utah State will round out the competition in the league on Friday, traveling to Cedar City, Utah, to face Southern Utah University.
