LOGAN, UTAH – Utah State senior guard Ian Martinez was named one of the five Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week, as announced by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Tuesday.

The native of Heredia, Costa Rica, led Utah State to a 2-0 record last week with an 84-82 win at Santa Clara and a 54-53 win against San Francisco in Salt Lake City.

Against the Broncos, Martinez led the Aggies with a career-best 28 points, while adding four rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block. He shot 66.7 percent (8-of-12) from the field, 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from behind the arc and 80.0 percent (8-of-10) at the free throw line.

Against the Dons, he led the Aggies with 20 points, while adding a career-high eight rebounds and career-high-tying five steals. He shot 81.8 percent (9-of-11) at the charity stripe in the game.

For the week, Martinez averaged 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 1.0 assists and 0.5 blocks per game, while shooting 52.0 percent (13-of-25) from the field, 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from behind the arc and 81.0 percent (17-of-21) at the free throw line.
