TYLER, Texas – Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has been named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler announced on Thursday.
The sophomore ranks second in the FBS in yards from scrimmage (1,814) and all-purpose yards per game (164.9). He has gained 1,262 rushing yards and 552 receiving yards, scoring 19 total touchdowns. He is the first FBS player since 2016 to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a 10-game span. Jeanty is the only player in the FBS with multiple 50+ yard rushing touchdowns and multiple 50+ yard receiving touchdowns, scoring two of each.
Jeanty was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week on Nov. 28 and received honorable mention from the organization on Sept. 26 and Oct. 17. He has a lengthy list of accolades this season, including MW Offensive Player of the Year. Jeanty has earned All-America honors from the Action Network, Associated Press, CBS Sports, CFN and USA Today.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year D1 Texas college.
Jeanty is a product of Lone Star HS, located in Frisco, Texas. He is the second Bronco to be named a finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, joining Jay Ajayi, who was selected in 2014. Below are the 2023 finalists:
