COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico sophomore Donovan Dent has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while fellow Lobo JT Toppin was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Week.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DONOVAN DENT, NEW MEXICO

Sophomore, Guard, Riverside, California/Centennial HS

  • Led New Mexico to two victories over UC Santa Barbara (84-61) and Santa Clara (93-76).
  • Averaged 22.5 points, six assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, while shooting 65.5 percent from the floor.
  • Posted back-to-back 20 points games for the first time in his career.
  • Against UC Santa Barbara, recorded 23 points and eight assists. Also tallied two blocks and two steals.
  • In the win over Santa Clara, registered 22 points, six rebounds and four assists.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

JT TOPPIN, NEW MEXICO

Forward, Dallas, Texas/Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff

  • Helped New Mexico to two victories over UC Santa Barbara (84-61) and Santa Clara (93-76).
  • Averaged 14.5 points, five rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game, while shooting 76.5 percent from the field.
  • Against UCSB, tallied 18 points, four rebounds and three blocks. Made 8-of-9 attempts from the floor.
  • In the win over Santa Clara, recorded 11 points, six boards and two blocks.
